Ashley Taïeb — the path · the book · the stage · the voice
The book, the stage, the Cabinet — it all starts there.
Enter the path→What I carry was built by accumulation — successive lives, radically different from one another, that now answer each other in a single body of work.
My expertise. The different places where I operate — the practice, organizations, the stage, writing. My deep thinking on addiction. The things that outrage me. What drives me.
This site isn't the exhaustive account of my life. It marks the meeting point between a deeply embodied path and in-depth work on human transformation.
Years of travel, of immersion in radically different cultural, social, and human environments. That's where a fine-grained understanding of human mechanisms was built — before I could even name them.
Coming back to France marked a clean break. Using crack, the street, losing every bearing. Not as a spectacular episode, but as a radical experience of dispossession. That period is neither glorified nor sanitized — it belongs to the real, and above all to the work of integration that followed.
Motherhood wasn't a redemption. It was a continuity. An anchor in the real, a living responsibility — the daily reminder that transformation isn't an event, but a way of holding steady over time.
With my business partner at the time, we designed the first French app dedicated to managing addictive behaviors — over 150 capsules, around fifteen disciplines, articulated into one structure. The project was pitched on “Qui veut être mon associé”: the entire panel chose to invest. My Addie was never an end in itself. It was a laboratory.
At a precise moment, writing forced its way in — not as an introspective exercise, but as an act of clarification. “Ma liberté si je veux” crystallizes a vision of addiction and transformation, one from which everything else takes its shape.
For more than seven years, this work has unfolded at the heart of the most complex situations — in private practice, in organizations, on stages, and in the media. One conviction runs through all of it: think differently, refuse shortcuts, take human complexity seriously.
The trajectory — in one unbroken line
From shame to dignity and reclaimed power.
Éditions Buchet-Chastel — March 2023
An iconoclastic approach to managing addictions.
Finding the exact words for what was crossed, observed, understood. Giving structure to a way of thinking born of experience, without simplifying it or softening it.
The book became bedrock — a founding work from which everything else can be articulated.
About the book
“Ever since I bought your book, I haven't been able to open it. This morning I understand why I was afraid to read it — afraid of what I would find inside.
I knew I was going to see myself, I knew the pain would come back up, but I think the timing couldn't be more perfect to open it. […]”
“Hi Ashley, I've been following you for a while. I read your book, which I consider a bible for understanding how addiction works.
Thank you for writing it — I say this as someone close to a drug addict (and alcoholic). It makes a lot of things easier to grasp.”
“I remember seeing a post where you talked about your book coming out — and then stumbling on it by chance at my local library.
I loved reading it, even though the underlying subject didn't concern me directly. I loved your take on your own introspection, and I often share your story — and passages that stayed with me — with other people. […]
There are gems in it for everyone.”
